Work continues to get the Pinhoti off the road south of Cave Spring, GA

Work continues to get the Pinhoti off the road south of Cave Spring, GA. Rick Moon and his crew have finished the 1/2 mile of trail between Santa Claus Road and Georgia Highway 100. Construction of 3/4 mile of new trail between Georgia Highway 100 and Esom Hill Road is about 2/3 complete. These two segments should be open later this year.

The file "PT-Hematite and Santa Claus.pdf" shows the completed portions, the portions under construction, and the proposed portions to be built later in 2015 and 2016 within Section 14 of the Pinhoti Trail. The 0.5 mile segment southwest of Mile 2.5 is complete but not open. The 0.75 mile segment west of Highway 100 is 2/3 complete. The segment along Hematite Branch should be under development later in 2015. There are several bridges to build at Little Cedar Creek and Hematite Branch. These are likely to be the last parts built before undertaking the reroute in the northern part of the Santa Claus Tract.
